Blood Collection Cancelled in Laval-des-Rapides

Due to circumstances beyond its control, Héma-Québec is cancelling its blood collection that was planned at the Laval-des-Rapides community centre (38, des Prairies Boulevard), on Monday, Oct. 24.

This collection, in collaboration with the City of Laval, aimed to welcome 50 donors.

Let’s recall that Héma-Québec’s mission is to meet the needs of Quebec’s population for blood and other biological products of human origin. (B.L.)

Put Blood Donation on Your Agenda This Fall

Héma-Québec invites Laval residents to the blood collection to be held on Monday, Oct. 17, between 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Montrougeau Community Centre, located at 25, Montrougeau, in Fabreville.

The goal of that event is to get 50 donors.

Let’s recall that booking an appointment before coming to the collection is always recommended in order to respect the time factor. People can do so online, on the Héma-Québec Website, or by phone, at 1 800 343-7264.

A thousand blood donations per day are necessary to guarantee an optimal level of reserve.

Solidarity

Last July, when the blood supply was low, people from all regions of Quebec responded to Héma-Québec’s call. Thanks to this solidarity movement, the current reserve is doing well.

However, since blood is perishable, the organization relies on the generosity of thousands of people in order to keep its reserve optimal. (J.B./IJL)

Laval residents’ Blood Collection is Back

Laval residents are invited to book an appointment for the 49th edition of Laval residents’ blood collection, which will be held on Friday, September 9 at the Centre sportif Bois-de-Boulogne, in Pont-Viau.

From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., 600 people are expected to be there for this collection, which is one of the largest in Canada.

Since it started, Laval residents’ blood collection has collected more than 50,000 blood donations.

“Blood donation is a recurring collective challenge that requires significant mobilization every year,” said Mayor of Laval Stéphane Boyer. “For the past 49 years, Laval residents’ blood collection has been an important event for the cause.”

Let’s note that the booking process, introduced a few years ago, allows donors to plan their visit, and helps for a faster donation process.

Some walk-in places will also be available.
