As of this evening, a traffic ban for heavy vehicles will be introduced. That excludes buses and emergency vehicles, which may continue to use the bridge.

Heavy vehicles will be directed to the Médéric-Martin Bridge, on Highway 15.

For now, the closure of the left lane, in both directions, is maintained on Papineau-Leblanc Bridge. It will be indicated by markings on the ground, rather than by cones, to facilitate winter maintenance.

The speed limit remains 70 km/h on the entire bridge. The Ministry reminds users of the importance of respecting the signs in effect. Surveillance will also be provided by the SAAQ road controllers.

The government body also recalls that “the condition of the bridge doesn’t compromise the safety of users”, and that “these measures are preventive, but necessary to ensure the integrity of the road infrastructure”. (N.P.)

The closure will take place between Dagenais (east) and Laurentides boulevards, from Friday, Oct. 14, at 10 p.m., until Monday, Oct. 17, at 4 a.m. Des Perron Avenue will also be closed during that time. It won’t be accessible from Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m.

The work is required in order to proceed with the commissioning of a new temporary intersection, located at the corner of Route 335 and des Perron Avenue. That will be used until the opening of the new Saint-Saëns Street (east) interchange, scheduled for next summer.

The temporary configuration will force the prohibition of circulation for pedestrians and cyclists. However, once opened, the new interchange will include a multipurpose track for them.

Detour

The Ministry recommends that road users travelling southbound take Laurentides Boulevard, westbound, to Highway 440, eastbound, and then return to Route 335 to avoid the section that will be closed this weekend.

Going north, drivers can instead take Dagenais Boulevard (east), westbound, and then take Laurentides Boulevard, northbound, to Route 335.

Heavy vehicles travelling north will instead be intercepted at the intersection of Route 335 and des Grands-Maîtres/Dagenais Boulevard (east). They’ll therefore have to take Grands-Maîtres and Robert-Bourassa boulevards, followed by Highway 440’s service road, westbound. That will allow them to find Laurentides Boulevard in a northerly direction, in order to then finally get route 335.

As for the city of Laval, the citizen relations desk, the sales counter for cat and dog permits, tax, assessment, engineering and urban planning counters, the municipal court and social emergencies will all be closed tomorrow.

Citizen reception counters, neighbourhood police stations and the gendarmerie will be open, while the police headquarters will not be accessible.

The 311 telephone service will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cultural and Sports Facilities

The libraries, the Maison des arts de Laval, and the Salle Alfred-Pellan will be closed tomorrow, as will the community centres.

The park and Centre de la nature facilities will remain open, according to the usual schedule. The same goes for the arenas and water playgrounds in Laval, with some exceptions. City-owned indoor pools will instead be closed.

Other Establishments

Across the province, most grocery stores, retail businesses, shopping centres and SQDC branches will be closed. The same applies for banks, as well as federal and provincial service points,

However, small grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, convenience stores, bars, gas stations and SAQ branches, unless they’re in a mall, should all be open.

Transport

The Société de transport de Laval (STL) will change its schedule on Labour Day. Buses will offer Sunday service.

This will also be the case for the suburban train, while the exo2 Saint-Jérôme line will offer the weekend schedule. That line goes through the Sainte-Rose, Vimont and de la Concorde stations. (N.P.)

Exit 22 A-15 (Montreal/St-Jérôme/Boulevard Chomedey) from Highway 440, westbound, will be inaccessible.

Also, service lanes of Highway Jean-Noël-Lavoie, westbound, between Bergman Street and Highway 15, as well as between the entrance and exit ramps of Boulevard Industriel, will be closed.

A complete closure of the entrance ramp leading from Boulevard Industriel, northbound, to the Highway 440 service lanes, westbound, is also to be expected.

Those are required in order to carry out work to relocate a gas line, which is necessary prior to the construction of a new overhead ramp leading directly to Highway 15, northbound.

Planning

Work’s coordination will be carried out in order to limit impacts and detours, said the Ministry of Transport.

Local traffic and access to businesses located between Boulevard Industriel and Bergman Street, from the service roads, will be maintained.
