$12 250 in Fines for Restaurants in Laval and Surrounding Areas

Six restaurants in Laval and nearby areas were recently fined by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ).
The total amount of the fines is $12,250, all issued since October 1.

In Laval, the La Cage – Brasserie sportive location at 3035 Le Carrefour Boulevard received a $1,000 ticket because the premises were not free of animals—including rodents, insects, or their droppings.
This violation occurred on July 16, but the ruling was handed down in early October.

Montréal

Four Montréal restaurants located north of Highway 40 also received fines from MAPAQ in October 2025.

The Tim Hortons at 7950 Henri-Bourassa Boulevard East was fined $4,000 for an infraction committed in February 2024.
At that time, MAPAQ determined the premises were not free of contaminants, pollutants, or animals, including rodents and insects, or their droppings.

The Burger King at 55 Crémazie Boulevard West, along Highway 40, received a $2,500 fine for a similar reason: the premises were not free of animals such as rodents or insects, or their droppings.

Meanwhile, the restaurant Chez Khady, located at 850 Décarie Boulevard, was fined $2,250 due to a temperature-related food safety risk. “Any perishable product sold hot or served hot to the consumer must be kept at an internal temperature of at least 60°C until delivery,” MAPAQ specifies.

Finally, the A&W location at 8000 Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard received a $1,500 fine because “the premises, vehicles, equipment, materials, and utensils used for the preparation, packaging, storage, transport, labeling, and serving of products, as well as other facilities and sanitary areas,” were not clean.

MAPAQ notes that the operator of this A&W at the time of the April 2024 violation has since ceased operations, meaning the restaurant has likely changed ownership.

North Shore

Only one restaurant on Laval’s North Shore has received a MAPAQ fine since the start of October: Café Dépôt, located at 162 Labelle Boulevard in Rosemère.
It was fined $1,000 for storing a heat-sensitive product without cooling it promptly or maintaining it constantly at a temperature not exceeding 4°C until delivery.
This violation occurred on August 20, 2024.
