Fortunately, a smoke detector was present and functional.
Almost simultaneously, firefighters located the fire’s origin in the kitchen and quickly used water to knock down the flames, limiting their spread and minimizing damage to the affected floor.
By 3:38 p.m., firefighters had completely controlled the situation after ensuring the fire hadn’t spread elsewhere within the affected apartment.
Nevertheless, the fire caused an estimated $150,000 in structural damage to the residential building and $50,000 in content loss.
