The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility announced that work will take place on the Pie-IX Bridge, between Laval and Montreal, in the coming weeks. This will cause complete night closures on an irregular basis until Dec. 5. Traffic Management During complete closures in both directions, a detour for drivers will be offered via Highway 19. The Service de police de Laval (SPL) is asking for the public’s help in order to identify three suspects, in connection with two arson attacks that occurred in a restaurant in Chomedey. The first fire took place on Nov. 7. Around 4:40 a.m., two suspects showed up in the parking lot of 965 Curé-Labelle Boulevard. That same service road will be closed between Highway 13 and the 100th Avenue, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Highway 13 (northbound) access ramp for Highway 440 will also be closed. Road users travelling on Highway 440 (eastbound) will be invited to take the detour via exit 19 (R-117/Curé-Labelle Boulevard/Chomedey Boulevard), Road 117 (Curé -Labelle Boulevard), Cléroux Boulevard, and the 100th Avenue to get back to the service road. A new one-kilometre trail, adapted to universal accessibility standards and including a 32 linear meters section of footbridges on stilts, has been added to bois de l’Équerre, in Laval. Bois de l’Équerre now has 2.65 km of trails that can be used by everyone. All of Quebec’s police services, in collaboration with traffic controllers of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), came together from Oct. 21–27, as part of the concerted national alcohol-drugs operation (ONC). More than 1,200 operations were performed during those six days. That resulted in the issuance of 3,500 tickets, of which nearly 500 were issued to pedestrians and cyclists. Unfortunately, 30 collisions involving pedestrians, and 16 involving cyclists took place during this period. Due to persistent labour shortage problems preventing the achievement of minimum production thresholds, Whyte’s announces the closure of its factory, located in Sainte-Rose, Laval. The closure is scheduled for next December 30. Over the next weeks, the company will move its production and equipment to other factory in Quebec (Saint-Louis de Richelieu), and Ontario (Wallaceburg).
