Investigators from the Service de police de Laval’s (SPL) Crimes contre la personne squad are once again asking the public to get in touch with potential victims of 54-year-old Marc-André Cauvier. The latter is currently detained, following a first charge relating to crimes of sexual nature, but the investigation has established he also allegedly assaulted a second victim. According to a survey by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), 36 per cent of Canadian SME owners have hired candidates who either never showed up for work, or stopped coming to work shortly after starting their jobs. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility announced that further night closures of Route 335 may be required until Dec. 18. The closures will be put in place to prepare the construction site for the extension of Highway 19, for the winter period. A new study by the Canadian Women’s Foundation reveals that less than half of the Canadian population understands the concept of consent in sexual activities. According to Canadian law, consent should be both positive (giving consent, initiating contact, participating enthusiastically) and continuous (being maintained throughout the sexual act). Only 45 per cent of survey respondents said those two indicators were necessary in their partner to make sure sexual activity was consensual.
