Sophianne Girard, a young jazz performer and songwriter who’s been singing since childhood, is seeing her dream come true this fall, with the release of her first album, entitled For Some Reason. Thanks to a grant from the Government of Quebec’s Young Volunteers program, and months of hard work, the young artist’s first album was officially launched on Sept. 30. Pharmacist owner of Vimont’s Jean Coutu that mysteriously closed its doors last week, Luigi Villaggi, knew his business had been in danger since February 2021. On Feb. 10, 2021, Villaggi had been notified by the Jean Coutu Group that the company would not renew neither the sublease agreement for the pharmacy premises, nor the franchise agreement. On Nov. 8, the Jean Coutu pharmacy, located at 2065, des Laurentides Boulevard, in Vimont, closed its doors without any warning. A sheet stuck on the door awaited customers on Tuesday morning. On Oct. 21, the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Laval (CRE of Laval) celebrated its 26th anniversary, at the premises of Éco-Nature, in Sainte-Rose.
